| Port St. Lucie, FL, near Treasure Coast Toyota in Stuart, FL |
Treasure Coast Toyota in Stuart, FL, attracts customers from a number of surrounding cities and communities seeking new and used cars, including Port St. Lucie, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of its incorporation in 2011.
Port St. Lucie has seen rapid growth in the past ten years, with a 85-percent population increase between the 2000 U. S. Census (88,769) and the 2010 U.S. Census (164,603). It is the biggest city in the Port St. Lucie metro area, which has a population of more than 400,000 residents. This is a far cry from the city's incorporation in April of 1961, when there were only about 250 homes in the city, most of them having sprung up in just the previous three years. Further growth is expected with the arrival of the Florida Center of Innovation, which opened its research lab and campus in 2008 and is projected to eventually bring more than 30,000 jobs to the city. |

| Port St. Lucie has a total area of 76.7 square miles, of which 1.1 square miles are water. It is the spring training home of the New York Mets, the city having enticed the club to relocate from its previous winter home in St. Petersburg in 1988 with the opening of Thomas J. White Stadium, which was later renamed Tradition Field and is currently known as Digital Domain Park. The facility also serves as home to the St. Lucie Mets Class A farm team and the Gulf Coast Mets Rookie League team, and has served as the site of the state high school baseball championships since 2009. Famous residents of Port St. Lucie include major leaguers Rick Ankiel and Michael Brantley and NBA player Larry Sanders (both Ankiel and Sanders are Port St. Lucie High alums) as well as actress Megan Fox and recording artist Robert Van Winkle (you probably know him better as Vanilla Ice). |
