2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: What to Expect

To cut to the chase immediately: there is a lot to talk about when it comes to the 2026 Toyota RAV4. A new design, a forward-thinking powertrain, and a host of new features make up the Toyota RAV4’s new generation. If you’ve been searching for a new Toyota SUV recently, keep reading to find out why the 2026 Toyota RAV4 is absolutely worth waiting for.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Power and Specs

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Power and Specs

The biggest change to the 2026 RAV4 is that it is now exclusively a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Gas-only models have been phased out in favor of the fuel-efficient hybrid setup and Toyota’s sixth-gen PHEV platform. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available for the standard hybrid 2026 RAV4, while all-wheel drive is standard for the 2026 RAV4 PHEV, a welcome drivetrain for fans of better handling and the option to do some light off-roading. Let’s look at the power specs:

  • 2026 Toyota RAV4 FWD: 226 horsepower
  • 2026 Toyota RAV4 AWD: 236 horsepower
  • 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV: 320 horsepower

When properly equipped, the 2026 RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs., doubling the 2025 model’s max towing of 1,750 lbs. Additionally, depending the 2026 RAV4 trim you choose, the suspension and handling may be tuned differently, the most notable example being the RAV4 GR Sport trim.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: MPG and Range

We’ll keep this quick because the numbers speak for themselves. Toyota estimates that the 2026 RAV4 will get approximately 44 MPG combined and the 2026 RAV4 PHEV will get roughly 41 MPG combined. The RAV4 PHEV is expected to get 50 miles purely on electric-only power. Unfortunately for your local gas station, you won’t be seeing much of each other anymore if you roll past with the 2026 RAV4.

The body of the 2026 RAV4 is a bit stronger and more durable due to Toyota tinkering and strengthening the joints in the frame. As such, the redesigned body sits beautifully with sleek, stylish lines and curves, promoting a much more rugged design that still looks great parked on the streets of Stuart and Fort Pierce. The wheels have a new max size of 20”, up from the 2025 model’s 19” wheels; a new grille and LED headlamps crown the front end of the 2026 RAV4, making it something to take note of as you pass by.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Interior and Tech

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Interior and Tech

The 2026 RAV4 redesign sees a much bulkier, rugged interior design, particularly in the dashboard. Most trims get cloth or synthetic leather upholstery, but a few models have synthetic suede as a seating option. Up to five passengers can fit in the 2026 RAV4 with 98.9 cubic feet of passenger volume. Max cargo clocks in at 70.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down; with all seats up, you have access to 37.8 cubic feet.

The 2025 RAV4 features a 7” infotainment system standard; the 2026 RAV4 redesign introduces a 10.5” model for the standard, with a larger 12.9” screen as an available option, marking a major improvement in visibility. The driver information system (all of the gauges) is a 12.3” digital screen, and a head-up display is available on the higher-level trims. Dual Bluetooth connectivity is now possible thanks to Toyota’s Arene software system powering connectivity, and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Safety

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Safety

The 2026 RAV4 redesign features one other massive upgrade: it’s the first vehicle to have Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, the driver assistance and safety suite. Included in the new version of Safety Sense are features and upgrades including:

  • Better object recognition
  • Improved pre-collision warning systems
  • Advanced lane assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Pedestrian detection
  • And more

The 2025 RAV4 received five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS, so it’s safe to assume the 2026 RAV4 will receive similarly excellent safety ratings.

2026 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Trims

The 2026 RAV4 will be broken down into several trim groups:

  • Toyota RAV4 Core: LE, XLE, Limited
  • Toyota RAV4 Rugged: Woodland
  • Toyota RAV4 Sport: SE, XSE, and the all-new GR Sport.

Prices have yet to be released for the 2026 Toyota RAV4, but we expect to see prices starting around $30,000 MSRP and increasing with each trim level adding new and exciting features.
