What’s New? 2024 Toyota Camry vs. 2025 Camry

The Camry has been America’s best-selling midsize sedan for over two decades now, and in that time, it’s seen some significant changes. But one thing that hasn’t changed is its high standard of affordability, efficiency, and comfort. 

For the 2025 model year, the Camry entered its ninth generation, which brought about a number of major updates. So, we figured what better way to highlight all the exciting updates than comparing it to the previous year, the eighth-gen 2024 Camry. Here’s everything you need to know. 

2024 vs. 2025 Camry Engine and Performance 

The 2024 Camry has a few available powertrains to choose from. The standard is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that puts out between 203 and 206 horsepower, depending on the trim. It also has an available V6 engine that cranks out 301 horsepower, as well as a hybrid powertrain that creates 208 combined horsepower. The 4-cylinder could be paired with either FWD or AWD, while the V6 came standard with FWD. 

The powertrain options for the 2025 Camry were simplified—it now comes standard as a hybrid-only model, with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System. With FWD, it creates 225 horsepower, and with AWD, it puts out 232 horsepower. 

Another significant performance difference is the fact that the previous generation has the 2024 Toyota Camry TRD, which came standard with the V6 engine, as well as slight tweaks to wheels, brakes, suspension, and exterior dimensions. For 2025, the TRD grade was dropped. 

2024 vs. 2025 Camry Fuel Economy 

When kitted out with the 4-cylinder engine, the 2024 Camry gets up to 28 MPG city/38 MPG highway, which is a solidly respectable figure as far as non-hybrid cars go. Predictably, the 2024 Camry Hybrid does even better, netting up to 51 MPG city/53 MPG highway in the LE trim. 

Being a hybrid exclusive model, it’s no surprise that the 2025 Camry has excellent fuel economy—it’s rated for up to 53 MPG city/50 MPG highway. This puts it neck-and-neck with the 2024 Camry Hybrid, so if maxing out your gas mileage is your main concern, both sedans are well worth considering. 

2024 vs. 2025 Camry Exterior 

Both the 2024 and 2025 Camrys have very similar exterior dimensions—their wheelbases are identical, and the only real difference is that the 2025 model is about an inch and a half longer. 

The 2025 Camry received some extensive style updates for the newest generation, including sleek new body lines, a fully revised front bumper, headlights, and fascia, and a host of newly available colors and wheel options.

Because they have very similar exterior measurements, both Camry models also have comparable interior dimensions. Here’s a side-by-side look: 

Aside from a few fractions of an inch here and there, both provide a similarly spacious cabin, which allows plenty of seating for five to ride comfortably. 

2024 vs. 2025 Camry Infotainment 

Depending on the trim, the 2024 Camry comes with either a 7-inch or a 9-inch floating center touch screen display. Both come with a range of standard features, including Bluetooth®, wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, SiriusXM® compatibility, and access to the full range of Toyota Connected Services, including a Wi-Fi hotspot. 

As one might expect, the 2025 Camry comes with some major interior tech upgrades, including larger touch screen options. Shoppers now have a choice between an 8-inch or a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia display, which now boasts wireless Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™, more USB ports, and wireless device charging as standard features across all grades. 

2024 vs. 2025 Camry Safety 

The 2024 Camry comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+, which includes the following features: 

• Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) 

• Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) 

• Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) 

• Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) 

• Automatic High Beams (AHB) 

• Road Sign Assist (RSA) 

Meanwhile, the 2025 Camry has the latest version, Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0, which includes updated versions of the features mentioned above, as well as Proactive Driving Assist (PDA). 

Despite having slightly different driver assistance systems, both models maintain the same high standard of safety—the 2024 and 2025 Camry both won safety awards from the IIHS.
