When you buy a new electric vehicle, you may be eligible for thousands of dollars in federal and state tax credits. It all depends largely on the supply chain of the resources that went into making your specific vehicle, and local credits will change based on where you live. Con: Range Anxiety
Perhaps the biggest thing that deters would-be EV buyers is the worry that they’ll find themselves stranded with a depleted battery. However, battery technology is rapidly improving, and average EV ranges are steadily on the rise. Con: Lack of Infrastructure
Depending on where you live, you may not have a lot of options for public EV charging. Owning an electric vehicle is easy if you live in a major metropolitan area with an abundance of chargers, but things can get a little trickier for folks living out in the country. You also have to be careful when taking a road trip, because without planning ahead, you may find yourself on a stretch of highway without good charger coverage.

We always recommend using a certified service center, but most mechanics have at least a passing idea of what’s going on under the hood of a gas-powered car, whereas a hybrid or electric vehicle may leave them stumped.
